HR Checklist for 2022 HR Operations
Update your operating systems for 2022 to reflect new employment laws and guidelines, including the following:
- Minimum wage for federal government contractor employees Effective January 30, 2022, the minimum wage for federal government contractor employees will be increased to $15.00 per hour. See our previous post.
- Standard mileage for business expenses Effective January 1, 2022, standard mileage rates for business expenses is 58.5 cents for every mile of business use (up 2.5 cents from the 2021 rate). See IRS notice 2022-03.
- 2022 disability compensation contribution withholding requirements and payment provisions for Temporary Disability Insurance (TDI), Workers’ Compensation (WC) and Prepaid Health Care (PHC) are as follows (for information on computation, see the DLIR Dec. 21 notice: https://labor.hawaii.gov/dcd/files/2019/11/newWBA.pdf):
- Maximum weekly wage base:
- TDI: $1,200.30
- WC: $1,487.93
- Maximum weekly benefit amount:
- Maximum weekly deduction: $6.00
- Mandatory coverage under Prepaid Health Care: $876.00

- Unemployment Insurance Rate Schedule will follow Contribution Rate Schedule D
- Taxable Wage Base (per employee): $51,600
- Tax Rate for New Employers: 3.00%
- Maximum Tax Rate: 5.80%
- Employment and Training Assessment (E&T) Rate: 0.01%
- Maximum Weekly Benefit Amount: $695
