USDOL Launches OSHA Cares Initiative
The U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) has launched the OSHA Cares Initiative, which focuses on helping businesses meet federal workplace safety requirements under the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The OSHA Cares site offers information on:
- worksite assistance, including real-time compliance assistance during enforcement visits
- Safety Champions, a new, voluntary self-guided program for employers to develop and implement a safety and health program to prevent workplace injuries, illnesses and deaths. Participants can work independently or with Special Government Employees (SGEs) who may assess the program and progress at any time
- small business resources, including an overview of OSHA coverage, recordkeeping and reporting templates, a self-inspection checklist app, compliance guides for various materials, equipment and environments
- cooperative programs for trade and professional associations, businesses, industry groups, unions, and community groups
- Recommended Practices for Safety and Health Programs, covering the seven core program elements for any workplace; separate recommended practices are available for the construction industry.
- worker rights, including how to file a complaint
- training tools
