The State of Hawaii Department of Labor and Industrial Relations (DLIR) has released its Jobs and Industries Forecast through 2034. The DLIR report, based on 2024 employment data, projects 28,000 net new jobs in Hawaii by 2034, led by healthcare and food services. About 4% of the new job openings will come from new job growth, with the remaining expected from workers changing occupations (53%) or leaving the labor force (43%). Leading the list of industries with the most job creation is healthcare and social assistance (8,860 jobs, an industry increase of 11.2%) followed by food services & drinking places (3,570 jobs, an industry increase of 5.4%).
