AI Legal Issues for Hawaii Employers: Your Launch Plan
Using AI in some aspect of your business is more “if” than “when,” if you’re not already there. Keep in mind that the AI adoption process is a change management exercise that affects company operations, financials, and communication.
Before you launch:
- Understand the needs, concerns, and abilities of your users – they are both your limiting and driving factors; have a plan to let fast adopters run with it and allow slow adopters get up to speed.
- Designate a multi-disciplinary internal team to form and track goals, KPIs, evaluation criteria, budgets, and implementation plans.
- Articulate your expectations for AI assistance with respect to workflows, risk tolerance, business continuity, and any other areas of operation.
- Determine your budget, including time and costs for training, oversight, documentation, repair, and recovery.
- As you research vendors, be sure you understand the provider’s terms regarding security, privacy, and data retention.
- Keep in mind that as AI technology develops, users will need to iterate quickly and frequently. The technology is not going away, but how we use it, and how we access it will change over time.
