Employers and Plan Administrators are reminded that COBRA (Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act) subsidies under ARPA (American Rescue Plan) expire September 30, 2021. The subsidies were made available for employees who qualify for or could have qualified for COBRA coverage (due to involuntary termination of employment or a reduction in hours) from April 1-September 30, 2021. Employers will be able to claim federal tax credits for the subsidized COBRA premiums. A Notice of Expiration of Period of Premium Assistance must be provided by September 15, 2021, for those whose subsidies expire on Sept. 30.
