HR Checklist for the New Year

Happy New Year! As you move into 2016, keep in mind the following new and/or updated employment laws and guidance:

  1. Hawaii Minimum Wage and Tip Credit Increase: Effective January 1, 2016.
  2. Prohibition of Use of Electronic Smoking Devices in Certain Areas: Effective January 1, 2016.
  3. 2016 Minimum Wage Rate for Federal Government Contractor Employees: Effective January 1, 2016.
  4. Federal Minimum Wage and Overtime Pay for Direct Care Workers: Effective January 1, 2015.
  5. Final Rules on Executive Order 13665, "Non-Retaliation for Disclosure of Compensation Information": Applicable to contracts entered into or modified on or after January 11, 2016.
  6. 2016 Standard Mileage Rates: Effective January 1, 2016.
