USDOL Offers Resource on Workplace Protection for Nursing Mothers

The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) requires employers to provide eligible employees with reasonable break time to pump breast milk for a nursing child for one year after the child’s birth, as well as a private place to pump. The break time requirements apply only to employees who are eligible for overtime pay. The U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) Women’s Bureau, in coordination with the Wage and Hour Division, have released a new informational flyer about nursing mothers’ workplace protection.
