Federal Contractors Should Complete Vaccination Doses By Jan. 4 to Meet Jan. 18 Deadline

Employees of federal contractors and subcontractors should complete vaccination dose(s) by Jan. 4, 2022, in order to be considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by the Jan. 18, 2022, deadline mandated by the federal government. Per the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), a person is considered fully vaccinated 2 weeks after either a single-dose vaccine or the second dose in a 2-dose series.

As previously noted here, the vaccination requirement applies to employees who work on covered contracts, including those who:

  • Work part- or full-time, providing either direct or indirect support
  • Have been previously infected with COVID-19
  • Work remotely

The mandate applies to covered contractor workplaces:

  • Where any covered worker is likely to be present during the course of the contract
  • Whether it is a federal workplace or a location controlled by the contractor, including outdoor sites
  • In addition to masking and physical distancing requirements in compliance with CDC guidance

Note: Federal agencies have been authorized to request "deviations" to implementation schedule for Executive Order 14042. Check with your contracting officer for more information.
