Default Electronic Disclosure Allowed for Employee Pension Benefit Plans Under ERISA

The Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) issued a final rule published May 27, 2020, which allows employee benefit plan administrators to use electronic media as a default to furnish information to plan participants and beneficiaries. Electronic delivery may help employers overcome logistical challenges to complying with disclosure requirements due to disruption caused by the COVID-19 emergency.
