Use Revised Form I-9 Effective May 1, 2020

Effective May 1, 2020, when using Form I-9 to verify the identity and employment eligibility of all individuals hired for employment in the U.S., employers must use the updated version with revision date October 21, 2019. Changes to the form include updated instructions regarding:

  • Who can act as an authorized representative on behalf of an employer
  • Updated USCIS website addresses
  • Clarifications on acceptable documents
  • Process for requesting paper Form I-9
  • Updated DHS privacy notices
