HIOSH Penalties Increase

State of Hawaii Occupational Safety and Health (HIOSH) penalties have increased (see table below or see HIOSH site), effective for inspections opened on or after January 24, 2019. The increase keeps the state’s penalties consistent with the federal Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), as required by law. The U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL), which enforces OSHA, published a final rule with its annual adjustments of civil monetary penalties for inflation.
