HR Checklist for 2019 HR Operating Systems

Be sure that your 2019 operating systems reflect updated employment laws and guidelines, including the following:

  • Effective January 1, 2019: Minimum wage for federal government contractor employees increased to $10.60 per hour. Tipped employees performing work on or in connection with covered contracts generally must be paid a minimum cash wage of $7.40 an hour. See the notice published in the Federal Register.
  • Effective January 1, 2019: 2019 standard mileage rates for business expenses is 58 cents (up from 54.5 cents in 2018) for every mile of business travel driven. See IRS notice 2019-02.
  • As of December 1, 2018: 2019 disability compensation contribution withholding requirements payment provisions for Temporary Disability Insurance (TDI), Workers’ Compensation (WC) and Prepaid Health Care (PHC) are as follows:
    • Maximum weekly wage base:
      • TDI: $1,088.08
      • WC: $1,348.43
    • Maximum weekly benefit amount:
      • TDI: $632
      • WC: $899
    • Maximum weekly deduction:
      • $5.44
    • Maximum coverage under PHC:
      • $876.00
